France is strengthening its CSR initiatives in the video game sector through the CNC, which applies certain conditions on its funding grants. To qualify for pre-production and production grants from the Support Fund for Video Games (FAJV), companies must have completed the training “Preventing and Acting Against Gender-Based and Sexual Violence” and comply with the related obligations.
Finally, to apply for FAJV production grant, studios must prepare a forecast report on the carbon footprint generated by the game using the Jyros tool. This requirement does not apply to FAJV pre-production grant.
JYROS, the Environmental Impact Calculator
What is it?
Since March 1, 2025, the CNC has made production grant from the Support Fund for Video Games conditional on the submission of a dual environmental assessment to encourage studios to anticipate their environmental impact. This initiative is part of the CNC’s “Action Plan!”, which aims to accelerate the environmental transition of the audiovisual sector. The plan also includes the creation of an Observatory for Ecological Transition, responsible for conducting studies and surveys to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement.
To meet this requirement, development studios can use “Jyros”, the first environmental impact calculator specifically built by and for video game companies. Approved by the CNC, the tool was designed by Game Only for the National Consortium for Video Games for the Environment.
Beyond the eco-conditionnality of the production fund, Jyros aims to help video game companies understand and reduce their environmental impact (carbon and other indicators), giving them the tools to take concrete action toward a more sustainable development of the industry.
JYROS was developed in collaboration with pilot video game companies, ensuring a perfect fit with the specific needs of the industry.
What does Jyros calculate?
Jyros can calculate the environmental impact of a video game company (fixed assets, business travel, home-to-work commuting, energy-related emissions, waste, eating habits, IT purchases and services) as well as the distribution and use of its games (number of installations, usage, supported platforms).

Training on Preventing Gender-Based and Sexual Violence (VHSS)
What is it?
CNC funding is conditional on companies meeting specific obligations regarding the prevention and detection of sexual harassment (VHSS). The company’s legal representative (the beneficiary of CNC support and employer) must register and complete the training, including the e-learning module. The goal is to train the person who holds the company’s legal responsibility.
The training consists of two parts:
- First, an in-person session (3h30) with three objectives that structure the program: understanding how to define gender-based and sexual violence; knowing the types of evidence; and understanding the employer’s obligations.
- Second, an e-learning module (30 min) delivered via an online platform, structured around a Q&A exchange. Successful completion of this module is required to validate the participant’s knowledge.
